Schladming Chosen for 2013 World Ski Championships

Schladming is a picturesque town, nestled between four breathtaking mountains and fairytale like landscapes. Its beauty and the lure of the Hochwurzen, Planai, Hauser Kaibling and the Reiteralm, has seen hundreds of skiing enthusiasts returning to the slopes each year. Schladming not only offers near perfect skiing but is a resort town filled with activities, history, art, literature and many nature exploration opportunities. Last week was a week of excitement and victory for Schladming, as it won the bid to host the 2013 World Ski Championships.

46th International Ski Congress

Snow skiing is generally not a sport readily associated with sunny South Africa. However, the International Ski Federation (FIS) Council chose to hold its spring 46th International Ski Congress in South Africa’s mother city, Cape Town, thereby making history as the first-ever FIS Congress to be held on the African continent.
