Ski vacation resorts all over the US are opening for the 2006-2007 season! While many are scheduled to open this Thanksgiving Day weekend, some have already done so. Boreal Mountain Resort opened with attractive discounts on its Opening Day for the forthcoming ski and snowboard season on Tuesday, November 14 2006.

It was the first vacation ski resort in the Tahoe area to open. Low temperatures, recent snowfall, and the concerted efforts at extensive snowmaking have been successful in making the resort ready. Only one lift, Gunnar chair lift, will be functional from 9am to 4pm daily.

Taking an early skiing vacation is a very exciting proposition but it has its disadvantages too. The snow fall may not be continuous so the dependence on snowmaking machines is high. Only limited slopes, runs and lifts are open during a short duration every day.

Mount Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska opened on November 18th for the first time this winter. Its Chair 3 was the first to ferry skiers and snowboarders up. Plans are afoot to open the lower mountain at Alyeska with at least five trails ready for skiing. Hilltop Ski Area at Anchorage has opened its Caribou Run trail on Friday November 17th. As the snow, natural or artificial increases, more terrain will be opened.

Colorado has experienced a fair amount of early snow this year. Seven ski resorts are already open and several more are set to open on the Thanksgiving weekend. Breckinridge is offering deep discounts and has been open since early November. Beaver Creek is set to open imminently.

Vail has even offered 30% off during mid week stay. Those who can get away should make the best out of these deals. The Thanksgiving weekend may not be the best time to find empty slopes but the offers at most resorts are too tempting to resist. Colorado ski vacation resorts Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly offer a free promotional PEAKS program! You can earn points toward great prizes receive exclusive offers, and much more. Most resorts offer attractive discounts on lodging or the lifts to attract early skiers.
