Perisher Blue

Perisher Blue will stun you with its sheer expanse and choice. One of Australia’s largest ski resorts, it encompasses over three thousand acres of magnificent skiing spread over seven breathtaking peaks. It is a scenic 20-mile drive from the lively town of Jindabyne and offers exciting skiing, an endless range of accommodation and vibrant après-ski – the perfect cocktail for a heady skiing vacation.

The most popular peaks and skiing terrain of the ski resort are Guthega, Blue Cow and Smiggin Holes. The variety of its runs and trails are suitable for every style of skiing and for skiers of all levels of expertise. Fifty chairlifts serve the area and though most of the terrain is suitable for intermediate skiers there is plenty of choice for beginners and experts too. Over sixty miles of cross country trails offer thrills to Nordic skiers. Snowboarders can freak out at four terrain parks and two half pipes.

The choice of accommodation at the four villages ranges from luxury ski resorts and chalets to a variety of lodges to suit all budgets. Enjoy the convenience of ski-in ski-out accommodation at Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes and Guthega. An excellent selection of international cuisine awaits you at restaurants in the four base villages. Numerous bars and clubs are the highlight of the après-ski in the mountains. Food at mountain restaurants and kiosks ranges from barbeque to fine dining and one can even shop at the super market and fix one’s own meals.

Perisher Blue has plenty of enticing offers for skiers including free skiing from Sunday afternoons for holders of Monday to Friday passes. Ski vacation packages are available which include accommodation at the associated village but one can also upgrade or select accommodation of one’s choice with any of the mountain passes.

The Skitube Alpine Railway is the most popular way of getting to and from the snow. It offers a convenient and innovative train ride from Bullocks Flat through the Ramshead range, the National Park, then onto Perisher Valley and Blue Cow Mountain. The train goes through one of the longest underground train tunnels in Australia and offers a free ride between Perisher Valley and Blue Cow to anyone with a valid Mountain Pass.
