With more than 150 kilometers of skiing and snowboarding wonder waiting for the adventurous traveler, Stubai Glacier caters for first time skiers as well as experts. Most of the terrain is adequate for beginner and intermediate skiers, while a small but distinguished part of Stubai Glacier is enjoyed by skilled athletes. The pistes and terrain varies from between 1,750 to approximately 3,210 meters above sea level, but has an established transportation system consisting of chairs, cable ways and ski lifts to assist skiers. There is not much cover on the slopes, so visitors to Stubai Glacier are advised to dress accordingly as temperatures can get very cold. For guaranteed snow, skiers can travel to Stubai Glacier between the months of October to June, however, contacting the resort ahead of time is recommended.

To ensure that visitors remain entertained at Stubai Glacier, there is a wide variety of activities to enjoy. Skiers can explore the slopes while cross country skiing, take on a winter hiking expedition or have some fun at the Glacierpark Stubai Zoo, which is filled with boxes, kickerlines and rails. Other activities include speed tests, comfort centre, ice climbing tower and a downhill run for families and senior family members. Children and teenagers will also be able to engage in exciting activities including ski instruction, kindergarden, ski camp, children’s restaurant and guided skiing excursions. Activities involving children are supervised at all times.

Exotic flavors and tasty dishes can be found in the restaurants at Stubai Glacier that are located on different sites and each offer a unique menu. Skiing enthusiasts will be able to hire, or purchase, gear and equipment at the onsite stores, so there is no excuse not to enjoy the beauty of Stubai Glacier.

The resorts are at different distances from the city and the nearest one, Nordpark, otherwise known as Seegrube, is accessed directly from the city. A new tram and cable car link the Old Town of Innsbruck to the peak. The charm of Innsbruck is the variety of slopes offered between the resorts that surround it. All ski resorts on the Innsbruck Area Ski Pass are linked by a free bus from hotels in the city. Other offers include free skiing for under ten year olds on purchase of an adult pass, and attractive discounts for under fifteens, young adults and seniors.

There are ten resorts, including the Stubai Glacier, that can be accessed by the pass. The resorts of Igls, Mutters and Schlick offer good beginners’ terrain and Axamer Lizum has more varied and advanced skiing. Local resorts also offer floodlit toboggan facilities. The Stubai Glacier ski resort is linked by a free bus service and the terrain is accessed by four convenient gondolas from the `Mutterbergalma´ base terminal to the `Eisgrat´ top terminal.

The glacier is a skier’s paradise with wide open bowls of the Eisjoch, Daun, Fernau and Gaiskar glaciers. The terrain has been naturally divided into areas that are suitable for beginners to experts. The glacier ski area is served by three double chair lifts, two six-passenger chair lifts, one quad chair lift, six surface lifts and three practice lifts. Snowboarders can have a fantastic time at the spacious snowboard park, set in immediate vicinity to the `Eisgrat´ terminal. The park features two quarter pipes, spine, half pipe, tabletop and pro jump. Refreshments are available at various mountain restaurants and ski huts. You can’t go wrong by adding Innsbruck to your list of preferred ski resorts.
