My boyfriend and I are looking for a really nice place to go snowskiing at a reasonable price and not a lot of crowds, he has never skied before and I have only been a couple of times in Arizona. I know how to ski, and would like for him to learn without a lot of people around him to make him uncomfortable. We live in Tennessee so we know we will have to fly somewhere but don't know where to go. Any body have any sugguestions?

I would recommend Red River, NM. Although there is no close place to fly into, it is a great place to learn to ski. I live in the DFW area of Texas and drive there at least one or two times a year. It is a fairly easy mountain, with the kindest people I have ever met (outside of Texas). There are great restraunts for after a long day of skiing (try Outpost Pizza if you go). They also have great instructors. I would recommend going anytime from the middle of Jan. through the first week in March. These are the least crowded times (with the exception of President's day weekend). It also is one of the least expensive mountains I have ever skied. Take a look at it:

i would go to steamboat, colorado. steamboat springs is a GREAT place to ski. unfortunately, there are a lot of crowds there which doesn't sound good for you, but there is a lot of other stuff you can do besides ski and snowboard. you can shop and stuff like that, the atmosphere of steamboat is great, its just really laid back, you could have some fun there. but if your not looking for a big place and you want to teach him to ski, then you might just try a local place.

Hey Marsha, that is a tough one! But I have to agree with BlackDiamond013, Steamboat is a very nice place. Laid back, yet exciting!
