Verbier

Verbier is a superb ski resort, particularly for more experienced skiers. Located in Switzerland’s southwestern region, close to the city of Martigny, Verbier has been consistently voted “Best of the Best” in three categories: advanced skiing, off-piste skiing and après-ski. A typical Swiss resort with traditional architecture of chalets, it has a strong Swiss-French culture. It has skillfully blended in a cosmopolitan atmosphere, drawing international visitors from all over the skiing world.

Verbier offers a massive skiing terrain with seventy diverse slopes in an area of 120 km served by 38 lifts. Though over forty percent of the slopes are a challenge to intermediate level skiers, the rest are divided between beginners’ slopes and advanced skiers’ runs. It also has access to the rest of the Four Valleys region with over 400 km of slopes served by a hundred lifts. There are facilities for night skiing and heli-skiing too. Certainly, no-one can complain about the quality or quantity of skiing available at this scenic Swiss ski resort.

Skiing in Verbier, with its state-of-the-art facilities against a breathtaking backdrop of the Mont Fort glacier, is a memorable experience. The high altitude of the glacier offers some year round skiing and Verbier has an excellent sun and snow record. In addition to its downhill runs, its twenty km of cross country trails, unlimited off-piste skiing and challenging black runs have attracted experienced skiers to this picturesque ski resort like a magnet. Prices are high, even for Switzerland, but no one can deny that Verbier offers the best.

Snowboarding is extremely popular in Verbier and there are excellent facilities in this ski vacation resort for boarders at its two snowboard parks. Other non-skiing activities Verbier offers includes mountaineering, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, skidoo, hang-gliding and torchlight descents. An enormous sports centre offers indoor swimming, snowboarding and extreme sports tuition. There are four top notch ski schools here and the views from everywhere are breathtaking.

Well known for its range of après-ski activities, Verbier has a sparkling nightlife at its bars and discos. Fine dining at a delectable selection of Swiss and international restaurants and classical music concerts are other traditionally popular activities here.
