Val Gardena in Italy will Show Many Changes
Val Gardenia in Italy is considered to be one of the leading ski vacation resorts in the world. It has been listed along with Vail Resorts in America, Bariloche in Argentina, and Queenstown in New Zealand as one of the best ski resorts. One of the reasons for it being ranked so high is because it is constantly upgrading its services and facilities. This picturesque resort is well known for its designated skiing slopes and snowboarding areas for different levels of skill. These are maintained in pristine condition and updated regularly before the beginning of the winter vacation season.
Snowboarding is very popular at this Val Gardena and the resort officials are also constructing a new halfpipe and a snow tubing hill at Plan de Gralba. One of the highlights of the winter events calendar at Val Gardena ski and snowboard resort is its traditional alpine skiing World Cup that will take place over two days in the middle of December. This will be mainly for men's speed events. Another popular attraction that is eagerly awaited by regulars to Val Gardena is their annual winter carnival in February.
Après-ski is a very important part of any skiing vacation and Val Gardena offers many different pleasures. The choice is an international as the visitors to the valley though there is plenty of local traditional fare to sample.
This year the resort is installing three new high speed detachable chairlifts that will replace all the existing lifts at Italy's premier ski and snowboard resort. Work is on in full swing and everything should be in place by November. Each of the new Paradiso Goldknopf - Seiser Alm chairs will be a high speed six pack, replacing an existing fixed grip double chair lift. Other work that is also in progress at the resort and will result in an easier connector from the "Comici" hut on Piz Sella to the "Tramans" chair lift which will be in operation this winter. This chair lift continues to Monte Pana. The present connector for skiers and riders from Piz Sella is over Ciampinoi. This new slope is an easier alternative to that.
