Great Divide Ski Area, located near Helena in Montana's Marysville, its known as a local favorite and for its good prices. Also referred to as “The Rock”, Great Divide boasts beautiful glades and wide open runs, ideal for all levels of skiers and riders. Although experiencing light snowfall of around 150 inches a year, during the winter months skiers and snowboarders can be seen traversing the 1 600 acres of Great Divide Ski Area. Opened in 1941, Great Divide has grown and has recently added a further 68 trails of back-country terrain in addition to its 137 runs. This vast terrain means that there is always a run available no matter your abilities. Great Divide Ski Area's landscape has been classified into the following categories: 15% beginner, 40% intermediate and 45% advanced. Six ski lifts are provided to transport snow sport enthusiasts up the remarkable white slopes with a total vertical of 1 580 feet. On Friday nights the setting sun doesn't quell the fun as the adventure continues with night skiing. Snowboarders will find the terrain park an awesome challenge. The terrain of the upper mountain with its cliffs, chutes and cornices is also popular amongst extreme sportsmen/women. For the less experienced and those standing on skis for the first time, there is a fantastic Ski School with qualified instructors. Before you know it you'll be gliding down the snow shrouded mountainsides.

Beyond a wonderful ski experience, Great Divide Ski Area also offers excellent services and facilities. The Equipment rental and retail store ensures that skiers and riders have all that they need to hit the slopes. Childcare is also available for families. When hunger strikes, the lodge has a restaurant, cafeteria and saloon. Accommodation is not available on the mountain, but there are various lodges, hotels, motels and guest houses in the surrounding towns.
