Arefjallen

Over a hundred kilometers of superb quality snow await you at Arefjallen, Northern Europe’s largest ski resort! Located on the edge of a large frozen lake, Arefjallen in Sweden hosts the world’s biggest downhill skiing race every April, the Skutsjutet. This time-honored ski resort also is home to the Freeride and Red Bull Big Air competitions. The longest run here is an impressive 6.5 km; most of the runs at Arefjallen are either intermediate or advanced, while the rest are evenly distributed between beginners and expert. Night skiing is popular at Arefjallen and greater challenges await cross country skiers on the 56 km of trails.

Snowboarders are well provided for at the snowboard park with five quarter-pipes and a half-pipe. The resort also features a snow-sure course fun park. You can participate in a host of non-skiing activities at Arefjallen such as snowmobile touring, horseback riding, ice-fishing, dog-sledding, paragliding, hang-gliding, ice-climbing and windsurfing on snow.

Accommodation is available at Arefjallen and the nearby village of Bjoren. The facilities available at the latter are perfect for families. The ski resort is famed for its vibrant nightlife at the various bars, clubs, cafes and discos. There are also more sedate and relaxed restaurants both on and off the slopes.
