Bear Valley

Located between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, Bear Valley is a great ski area with a high level of natural snowfall. Bear Valley Mountain Resort is somewhat unique in that it has a great small-town ambiance that endears it to those who have visited it before, and who continue to visit every winter. Bear Valley has a great variety of facilities which span some 1280 acres and it summits at 8500 ft. It also has a 1900 ft vertical drop.

Bear Valley Mountain Resort has an awesome 67 trails where beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers can put their skills to the test and have the time of their lives. The largest focus group here are intermediate skiers with some 40% of the runs being dedicated to this skill level. 25% of the runs are suitable for beginners while 35% are strictly for more advanced skiers. The network of slopes is served by 9 ski lifts. These are two triple chairs and seven double chairs. There is also one carpet lift.

The resort has recently come under new ownership and has since undergone a bit of a revamp. New equipment has been purchased, buildings and cars have been painted and the day lodge was completely remodelled. The hibernation ski lift is also due to be replaced with the Polar Express. Future plans for the lodge include more new lifts, a gondola and a mountain-top day lodge. There are also plans in the pipeline to expand the resort’s existing boundaries and create more facilities which will enable the resort to function year round. If this is achieved, the resort will feature zipline, mountain biking, hiking and an Alpine Coaster as part of its summer activities. Current summer activities include annual music festivals, fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, white water rafting, volleyball, horse riding, swimming and rock climbing.

As Bear Valley Mountain Resort is designed to resemble a small village, the atmosphere here is friendly and open. You can go shopping, enjoy an evening with friends, dine out at one of the great resort restaurants, or simply relax at your lodge or hotel.
