Winter Park

Filled with family fun, great snow and awesome weather, Winter Park Resort makes for a brilliant winter vacation spot. With 351 inches of beautiful white fluffy snow each year, a summit elevation of 12 060 ft and 134 great ski trails with 24 ski lifts, it is quite easy to understand why Winter Park Resort is so popular. To top it off, over 70 percent of the season is sunny and clear, which makes for excellent skiing conditions.

Winter Park has something to offer everyone. Family-orientated with child care facilities and programs for children and women, any one in the family can hit the slopes here. And if your skills leave something to be desired, you can always make use of the great skiing and snowboarding instruction that is available at the resort.

With over 100 trails spread out over 2762 acres of skiable terrain, you’ll find that there is more than enough variety. The trails are rated 9% beginner, 34% intermediate, 54% advanced and 3% expert. The resort is able to offer so many trails because instead of being concentrated on one slope, it is made up of five interconnected mountains. These are Winter Park, Mary Jane, Parseen Bowl, Vasquez Cirque and Vasquez Ridge. It also has three terrain parks and a halfpipe. Each slope and terrain park is different and you’ll discover that the various slopes offer a variety of terrain – from groomed slopes to more untamed bumpy steeps. Discovery Park is for beginners, while Kendrick Terrain Park is for intermediates. Rail Yard is more for advanced riders, as is the impressive 450 ft x 18 ft superpipe at Allan Phipps. However there is a halfpipe not far away for the less advanced boarders. There is no cross-country skiing but snow tubing is a great alternative to alpine skiing and boarding if you’re looking for a change.

Not far from the resort are the towns of Fraser and Winter Park where you can go shopping or enjoy some great cuisine. Back at the resort you can enjoy hot tubs and wonderfully warm indoor furnaces. There is a variety of accommodation available including condominiums, motels, lodges and bed & breakfasts. In summer the resort offers alpine slides, miniature golf, a maze, bungee, indoor wall climbing and plenty of mountain biking.

Winter Park Resort is open from November to April every year. Book now to make sure that you find your place at one of Colorado’s greatest ski resorts this season!
