Mt. Spokane Ski Area
If you’re looking for a great place to hit the slopes this winter, look no further than the Mt Spokane Ski Area. This great ski area is situated just 23 miles from Spokane and has a reputation for good snowfall averages, great trails and plenty of hospitality.
With a summit elevation of 5 889 ft, Mt Spokane enjoys a winter snowfall average of 100 inches. Though the resort has no snowmaking machines, it does have plans to install some in the near future. The 2 000 ft vertical drop is littered with 44 different trails which cater to the various levels of skier and snowboarder. The trails are graded 23% beginner, 32% intermediate and 45% advanced and they are accessed by five lifts. The ski area has an impressive 2 500 acres of skiable land and an additional 25 kilometres of cross-country trails. Freestylers can enjoy the terrain park while those looking for some peace and quiet may enjoy the snowshoe trails which dot the landscape. For something a bit faster, you can try your hand at snow tubing.
When the time comes for a quick snack, the Vista House is a great place to go. This beautiful 1934 building has recently undergone rather extensive renovations and now it is able to offer guests a warm, rustic spot for liquid or solid refreshments. Nearby lodging tends to be just as warm and accommodating and adds the perfect touch to an already perfect destination. Other facilities include ski and snowboard lessons, children’s programs, women’s programs and ski and snowboard equipment rental.
Clearly the Mt Spokane Ski Area is a great place to go for either a day trip or a week long skiing vacation. Boarders and skiers are welcome between November and April and booking is not essential. Recent improvements to the road also make the trip more pleasurable so start planning your stay at Mt Spokane now!
