Mount Hotham

Mount Hotham, deep in Australia’s Victorian Alps, is the only ski vacation resort in the country with its own airport. A more complete ski vacation destination would be hard to imagine, with its diverse ski slopes, outstanding facilities, excellent accommodation and scintillating après-ski. Approximately 360 km north-east of Melbourne, Hotham is the place to be when the snow falls.

Its tremendous diversity of terrain offers plenty for all levels of skiers and beginners can take advantage of excellent tuition from the Snowsports Centre. A range of programs specially meant for first time skiers will build the confidence of every novice. Hotham boasts a range of easy, walk-on beginner slopes and fantastic intermediate terrain. You will be delighted cruising down tree-lined runs at Blue Ribbon, the divine pitch at Heavenly Valley and the uncluttered glades at The Orchard.

Hotham is famed for its terrain for the expert skier with its adrenalin pumping double-black diamond runs and fantastic range of back country terrain, easily accessible with the new Kat Skiing Adventures. Cross country skiing trails around Hotham and Dinner Plain offer fantastic opportunities as the resort is surrounded by the spectacular Alpine National Park. Hotham and Dinner Plain offer 35km of trails that range from 2km to 15km. There are no fees for cross country skiing at this ski resort and you can ski directly from Hotham village, or take the free village shuttle bus to Wire Plain, the starting point for most courses.

The village is located right on top of the mountain and is perched on a magnificent ridgeline that is next to the summit. The views from everywhere are unsurpassed, with the sweeping Dargo High Plains to the south-west and Mount Feathertop to the north-east. Choose from ski in/ski out accommodation at one of the Hotham Heights houses or go for ski-out accommodation in the Davenport Village, which provides excellent access to the Big D and beginner ski areas. The village also boasts a childcare centre, supermarkets and a spa. The recently developed new Hotham village offers all this and more by way of après-ski and other delights. Mount Hotham has plenty to offer, and well worth a visit.
