Fernie Alpine boasts over 30 mountain biking trails. These range in difficulty levels. Double black means the trail is “extreme”; black means “most difficult”; blue is “more difficult”; and green is “easy”. Only experts should attempt the triple black trails at Fernie. Triple black mountain biking trails at Fernie Alpine include Kodiak Karnage with access at Mr. Berms and Aggravated Assault with many trying technical sections. If you are not very experienced or are looking for a relaxing ride, try out the green trails, such as Silk & Manchuria, Larch Trail, Honey Bee and Eville. The majority of the trails are classified blue. Each of these mountain biking trails at Fernie Alpine offers you a unique experience with different features and stunning scenery.

Mountain biking is big at Fernie Alpine, so there is even more on offer than just biking trails. Private lessons are offered to individuals of all ages and riding levels. Professionals will teach you new techniques and help you to hone your skills. You can book either a half day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours) session. Fernie is home to the marvelous Dirty Girls Mountain Bike Camps. These camps are specifically aimed at women and were carefully created by women. Exceptional female instructors assist beginner and intermediate riders to grown in confidence and develop their skills, all in a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere. The first camp has already been run with the second to follow in August. During the camp, individuals will enjoy a bike maintenance seminar, skill sessions and instructional trail rides. There are also various clinics held which include topics such as braking, cornering, manual jumps and so forth. Rentals are available for those who do not have their own mountain bikes.

Another exciting mountain biking experience on offer at Fernie Alpine is the Thursday Night Mountain Bike Series. Entry is $5 per race and participants must register before 6:30 at the Mountain Adventure Center. Great prizes are on offer for racers in the various categories. After the race, participants can enjoy a drink at Kelsey’s.

The thrilling Fernie Full Throttle Mountain Bike Festival will be taking place on from the 24th to the 26th of August. This is set to be an amazing mountain biking event at Fernie Alpine that will include outdoor movies, contests, a beer garden, pancake breakfast, live music, a family play area and more.
