Award-winning snow sport destination, Deer Valley Resort in Utah, will be kicking off its winter ski season on 6-7 December with their annual star-studded Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest. This popular invitational ski event teams up former Olympic ski legends with film and television celebrities for a lively weekend of skiing, music and fundraising, with the Waterkeeper Alliance being the worthy recipient.
Coleen Reardon, Dear Valley Marketing Director, says with regard to the event, “It’s always a thrill to start our ski season with a celebration. We celebrate the arrival of winter, the start of a new season, the excitement of hosting celebrity guests to ski our mountain, and the satisfaction of helping out a non-profit organization we feel strongly about – the Waterkeeper Alliance.”
The Waterkeeper Alliance describes itself as “an international grassroots advocacy organization “dedicated to preserving and protecting your water from polluters.” The Waterkeeper Aliance’s mission is to provide support for Waterkeeper programs, while advocating clean water and strong communities. It does this by: supporting and empowering member Waterkeeper organizations in order for them to protect communities, ecosystems and water quality; promoting the Waterkeeper model for worldwide watershed protection; and advocating for issues that are common to Waterkeeper programs.
Deer Valley Resort’s Birdseye run will be the venue for the giant slalom races on both days of the Celebrity Skifest. The public is invited to be spectators at these events and can expect to see some of the renowned legends of U.S. skiing demonstrating their immense skill on the slopes. Competitors in this year’s event include Steve Mahre, Tommy Moe, Phil Mahre and Heidi Voelker – Deer Valley’s Ambassador of Skiing. Celebrities confirmed to be participating in the event include Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Larry David, Matthew Modine, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Scott Wolf, Gloria Rueben, Joe Pantoliano, Ian Ziering, Rob Morrow, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Warburton, Dylan Bruna, Camryn Manheim and David Conrad.
