Grouse Mountain

If you’re looking to ski and the local conditions aren’t that conducive to winter sports, you might want to take a trip out to Grouse Mountain Ski Resort. Situated only 15 minutes from Vancouver, this is the only resort in the area with snow-making capabilities. It also features night skiing, so you needn’t stop enjoying yourself when the sun goes down.

Grouse Mountain has 25 great ski runs spread out over 212 acres of land. The runs are accessible via 5 ski lifts so getting to the top is quick and easy. The mountain has skiing, snowboarding, cross country and snowshoeing opportunities and you will find a jib park and a terrain park where you can enjoy doing all sorts of adrenaline pumping, hair-raising stunts even though there is no halfpipe.

The resort has a summit elevation of 4100 ft and a vertical drop of 1260 ft. It’s longest run is 5280 ft and there are plenty of programs for children and women to enjoy. There are a wide variety of ski runs available so you will be able to enjoy your skiing no matter what level skier you are. These are: 12% beginner, 56% intermediate, 24% advanced, 8% expert.

When you’re not skiing, you can enjoy shopping, scenic helicopter rides, snowshoe tours and sleigh rides. There are plenty of dining opportunities available such as The Observatory, Altitudes Bistro and Lupins Café. In addition to this you will find that the resort offers a variety of entertainment including the Theatre in the Sky and the World Famous Lumberjack Show. Summer activities include hiking, the sky ride and paragliding, though you can usually also enjoy these activities in winter too.
