Brighton

Strictly a winter resort, Brighton Ski Resort is located in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. You’ll find its enormous 10 500 ft peak at the topmost of Big Cottonwood Canyon, where 500 inches of annual snowfall are just begging to be ridden. Brighton was opened in 1936 and has been continually updated and upgraded to keep skiers and boarders coming back every year for more of one of Utah’s greatest slopes.

Some say the best part about Brighton is the fact that you can enjoy 18 of the 66 trails day or night. Others say it is the great powder. Still others will argue that it is the view. Whatever it is that draws you to Brighton Ski Resort, you can be sure that you’re not alone. Brighton is capable of catering to over 10 000 people an hour; but that does not mean you’ll be stuck in queues all winter. The resort is not normally very crowded and even when numbers do swell; there are seven lifts to choose from. Three of these are high-speed quads which are able to transport people quicker and more frequently than older lifts.

The trails cater well for a variety of skill levels and you will find that 21% are graded for beginners, 40% are intermediate and 39% are advanced. Snowboarders will enjoy the great terrain park complete with halfpipe and plenty of entertaining obstacles. Otherwise you can spend your days enjoying the 1745 ft vertical drop on either a board or a set of skis. Beginners and children will find a variety of programs and lesson structures available to choose from. There are also women’s programs available for the moms and free skiing for children under ten years of age. It’s affordable, accessible and only 25 minutes from Salt Lake City.

When you’re not skiing, you can enjoy a meal or two at the great restaurants available. These include the Alpine Rose and the Brighton Chalet. A variety of nearby accommodation is also available, so book now to enjoy the luxuries of Brighton Ski Resort this winter!
