Whitetail Resort Upgrades for 2008/2009 Season

Situated in south-central Pennsylvania, about a 90 minute drive from Baltimore and D.C., Whitetail Resort offers superb snow skiing and snowboarding facilities. Although Whitetail is one of America‘s youngest ski resorts, it offers even the most experienced skiers a challenge, while ensuring that beginners and intermediate skiers are well taken care of. In line with the resort’s commitment to give skiers what they want, Whitetail will be undertaking a number of upgrade projects during the 2008 summer season in preparation for the 2008/2009 snow skiing season.

Under the ownership of Snow Time Inc. since the fall of 1999, Whitetail Resort has already seen some major improvements, including extensions to the base lodge, a new snow tubing park and lighting for a number of expert slopes, as well as additional snow making equipment to allow the slopes to open earlier in the snow skiing season. Upcoming projects are aimed at making a snow skiing holiday at Whitetail Resort an even more memorable experience.

Work has already begun on cutting a new trail as part of the upgrade project at Whitetail Resort. The new trail, which will be the longest on the mountain, begins at the top of Snow Park, winding its way through the valley and ending at the bottom of Fanciful. This beginner’s trail, which has not yet been named, will be more than 2,800 feet long with an average width of about 80 feet. Once the trail has been cut and sculpted, 26 brand new Areco snowmaking fan guns will be installed along the trail, which will also be lit for night snow skiing and snowboarding.

A new double chairlift to service the Jib Junction Terrain Park will be installed before the start of the 2008/2009 snow skiing season. This 1,000 foot long lift will relieve the congestion that has been experienced at the Upper Angel Drop – which means that skiers will have more time to spend on the slopes.

Even while preparations are being made for the next snow skiing season, summer season activities are in full swing at Whitetail Resort. Visitors are enjoying the world-class golf course as well as honing their fly-fishing skills in the beautiful rivers in the area – wonderful ways to pass the time before the next exciting Whitetail Resort snow skiing season begins.
