Jackson Hole for a Perfect Winter Vacation

Vacation in Wyoming during the winter and you will be able to experience something different at each ski resort. You can take a ski vacation at any of the resorts that are scattered across seven different mountain ranges. Jackson Hole has the reputation of being the steepest and deepest, with the awe inspiring Corbet’s Collier, meant only for experts. Jackson Hole also boasts of acres of backcountry, and new novice-friendly runs.

Wyoming is the perfect vacation spot to revel in nature’s splendors with opulent scenery, the granite spires of the Tetons, the wide sweep of the Snake River and the wide spread parklands of Yellowstone. It offers variable terrain from groomed slopes to dangerous cliff areas and unpredictable weather and snow conditions.

Jackson Hole offers 2,500 acres of skiing on two neighboring mountains and one has access to an additional 3,000 acres of backcountry terrain in the Bridger Teton National Forest and Grand Teton National Park that were opened recently. Rendezvous Mountain which looms at over ten thousand feet has a traverse of mixed terrain of over seven miles descending from its summit. There are 22 miles of groomed trails at Jackson that include bowls, couloirs, wide-open groomers, trees, and mellow faces.

One has the choice of skiing off the rear of Rendezvous into Grand Teton National Park or staying within the area. The infamous challenge here is Corbet's Couloir, a double black diamond run. The Sublette Quad Chair offers access to other bowls and chutes. Skiers now have access to the Crag's terrain which is an additional 200 acres and 1,000 vertical feet of expert terrain above the Casper Lift area. People taking their first ski vacation need not worry as there are designated beginners’ terrains with exclusive lifts. Jackson is equipped with nine lifts, aerial tram, and eight-person gondola service. The gondola is soon to be retired. The aerial tram is one of the few in the country and is soon to be replaced with a newer one. A 100-passenger, state-of-the-art aerial tram is expected to be in service by December 2008, from the base in Teton Village to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain. The continual vertical rise of 4,139 feet will still be the longest ski lift in North America.
