Lenggries

Lenggries ski resort is a fantastic ski destination. Quite unknown on the international skiing circuit, Lenggries is very popular with Germans. It is the nearest ski vacation resort to Munich and can get very crowded on weekends. Lenggries ski resort offers long, challenging runs and a variety of terrain. Its location in Karwendel offers spectacular views. Several packages are available and it is possible to book a train, bus and lift combination ticket from Munich.

The region’s most prominent mountain, Brauneck, dominates the skiing scene in Lenggries. Brauneck reaches an altitude of 1700 meters and its valley is at 700 meters, ensuring good snowfall and well covered slopes to ski on from December till after Easter. State of the art snow making machines at the vacation resort come to the rescue if Mother Nature does not oblige with plentiful snow. Brauneck is a popular with skiers of all levels of skill, experts and beginners alike. You can look forward to learners’ slopes as well as those worthy of world cup skiing.

Another ski area a little further away is Wegscheid, where you will find a number of beginners slopes for practice very close to the car parks, even before going up the cable car to Brauneck. The top of the ride accesses a large ski area. There are runs under the cable car that are rated black with runs that extend to challenging terrain under the neighboring Garland lift. Experienced skiers can take the runs all the way down or stop at the chairlift and take a ride. The Wegscheid base area is suitable for beginners but above the draglifts it is considered as red run area and is more challenging. The descent is entirely red. Night skiing is permitted at Streidlhang.

The mountaintop has several ski huts that serve refreshments and offer breathtaking views.
The choice of runs that range between easy and difficult makes Brauneck the ideal ski area for beginners and experts and a breath of fresh air for non-skiers.
