Stowe Mountain
Situated at an elevation of 1280 ft, Stowe Mountain Resort is a great family resort. It offers a variety of accommodation, great services and, of course, top-notch ski trails. Guest can enjoy a comfortable environment while they shop, relax and ski to their heart’s content. Stow Mountain is located on Mount Mansfield – the state’s highest peak. The mountain has a summit elevation of 4395 ft which means skiers get to enjoy a 2360 ft vertical drop.
Stowe Mountain has something for everyone. The resort features 48 well-groomed and maintained trails with twelve lifts and virtually no queues. The majority of the trails (59%) cater for intermediate skiers while the remaining 16% is designated for beginners and 25% is for advanced skiers. The trails are spread out over two mountains and are approximately one mile in length so you can really enjoy your ride. Cross-country skiers will enjoy the 80 kilometres of excellent cross-country trails. There are four Nordic centres around the resort to choose from, so you will find ample opportunity to enjoy this sport. Snowboarders usually enjoy making use of the terrain park and two half-pipes which have been made available for their use. Some of the trails have lighting to allow for great night-skiing opportunities.
Refreshment comes in the form of a number of great restaurants such as the Blue Moon Cafe, Mr Pickwicks and the Matterhorn – to name only a few. There are plenty of great restaurants in Stowe which offer a variety of menus from several continents so you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Depending on the time of year that you visit, you’ll find a variety of great activities to enjoy. You can play golf or tennis, go hiking, enjoy a scenic gondola ride, try the fun alpine slides and bungee trampoline. Kids can even enjoy an inflatable obstacle course.
