The Canadian National BBQ Championships at Whistler Blackcomb

The competition was held on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of August 2007 at Dusty’s Bar & BBQ. A fantastic schedule of events was organized for the Canadian National BBQ Championships, starting on Friday with the Judge School and BBQ Whole Hog Demonstration. Saturday was a great opportunity for anyone who wants to compete in the Local’s BBQ Day. Saturday events featured the 6th Annual Backyard Burger Championship, ‘King of the Grill’ Anything Goes Grilling Contest, the CASI Sanctioned Chilli Competition (a qualifier event for the World International Chilli Contest), and the Cocktail Contest. Additionally, Saturday will feature the preparations for the Canadian BBQ Championships. An awards ceremony was held in the late afternoon for winners of the various competitions held on Saturday.
Sunday is the day everyone was waiting for with the official Canadian BBQ Championships. This was the day when the professionals present their fare with the goal of being named the Canadian BBQ Champion. The order for presenting their BBQ delights is as follows: Pork Butt, Beef Brisket, Chicken and Ribs. A thrilling awards ceremony followed later in the afternoon.
Music and entertainment was enjoyed by visitors throughout the day. Big John and the Voodoo Dollz will playing at Dusty’s on Saturday night. Indeed, the Canadian National BBQ Championships at Whistler Blackcomb ski resort was a brilliant event, filled with good times, good smells and good food.
Of course, if you want to spend more time at Whistler Blackcomb, the resort has a wide offering of summer activities including: mountain biking, hiking, mini-golf, the Westcoaster luge, wall climbing, bungee trampolines, a human gyro, sightseeing and glacier skiing.
