Mount Cain

A trip to the north side of Vancouver Island will have you arrive at the stunning Mount Cain Ski Resort. The mountain offers skiers, snowboarders and back-country skiers the ride of a lifetime. It caters for families and ski enthusiasts of various ages and skill levels and you will soon discover that staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful and that the accommodation is warm and inviting.

Mt Cain has a summit elevation of 5800 ft and a vertical drop of 1499 ft. Its eighteen ski trails are linked by three ski lifts – two t-bars and one handle tow. The resort is well developed to cater for alpine skiing and snowboarding, though it has no halfpipe. 20% of the trail is rated ‘beginner’, 45% is for intermediate skiers and 35% is designated for advanced skiers. The resort is generally open between December and March each year and it operates from 9:30am to 3:30pm each weekend. This means that when you arrive you’ll find beautiful white powder which hasn’t been touched in a week. The resort is also relatively small so there is generally no queuing for lifts.

Mt Cain Ski Resort offers both skiing and snowboarding lessons for beginners and advanced skiers. They also rent all necessary equipment for the two sports and offer children’s programs. Accommodation generally comes in the form of lodge rentals, cabin rentals, cabin sales or the Rugged Mountain Motel. Refreshment is best enjoyed at the Cabin Café which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a large variety of snacks.

You may be surprised to learn that Mt Cain is the largest regional park in the Mt Waddington Regional District. As such, the resort is operated by a non-profit society. It is uncrowded, has reasonable prices and is a great place where you can bring friends or family and have tons of fun. Book your accommodation at Mt Cain Ski Resort today!
