If you’re looking for a great family experience combined with fun and snow, look no further than Boreal Mountain Resort. The resort is easily accessed from anywhere in Northern California as well as Reno in Nevada. Simply take the Interstate 80, turn off on the Boreal/Castle Peak Exit and you’ll soon discover the ultimate family holiday spot.

Boreal Mountain Resort covers some 380 acres snow-laden mountain. Combine this with a vertical rise of 500 ft and you have the ultimate location for families to participate in a variety of great winter sports. Boreal sees some 400 inches of snowfall annually and so enjoys great natural conditions for skiing and snowboarding – though there are snowmaking machines just in case nature can’t keep up with the demand. The top elevation for Boreal is a striking 7700 ft which means your head wont be the only part of you that will be up in the clouds!

The resort has 41 great trails, the longest of which is 1 mile in length. Some 30% of these trails are dedicated to beginners, while 15% are for advanced skiers only. The majority – 55% – caters for intermediate skiers. There are also a number of lanes for sledding so you don’t necessarily have to be a seasoned skier to enjoy Boreal Mountain. This means that there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Getting around is easy with 2 quad lifts, 3 triple lifts, 4 double lifts and a moving carpet.

For freestyle enthusiasts, there are plenty of parks and pipes to be found. The newest of these is the 18 ft quarter pipe but there are many other great table tops, boxes, rails and jumps to be found. There is also the fantastic Jibassic Jib Island where you’ll be able to do all the jibbing and jumping you want during your holiday.

Reasonable accommodation is available at Boreal Mountain Resort itself, though you may be able to find alternate accommodation if you don’t mind a bit of a drive. Book now to enjoy the ultimate winter family vacation.
