Blandford Ski

Opened in 1936, Blandford Ski Area already has a long-standing reputation for teaching families to ski. The Springfield Ski Club own and operate the ski area, and they always do their best to ensure that the area is well run and maintained. The ski area caters for both skiers and snowboarders and the terrain and trails are suitable for a variety of skill levels.

The Ski area is situated at an elevation of 1220 ft and enjoys a 465 ft vertical drop from a summit elevation of 1685 ft. It does not have a high annual snowfall average – only about 50 inches – but the ski area has an80 % snowmaking capability to ensure that you always experience great skiing conditions. The twenty trails are serviced by five different lifts and are rated 40% beginner, 50% intermediate and 10% advanced. A number of the trails are also lighted at night to allow for some great night skiing. Snowboarders can make use of the terrain park complete with half pipe where they can put their skills to the test and impress their peers.

In summer the ski trails make way for golf courses which are affordable and enjoyable. All year round you will find a few restaurants nearby where you can satisfy your appetite with tasty fare, but you will have to travel here every day from the nearest town to enjoy the slopes since there is no nearby lodging. Still, this doesn’t stop too many people and the slopes are quite busy between December and March each year.

Other facilities include ski and snowboard rental, a variety of ski and snowboard instruction for all levels and entertaining women’s programs and children’s programs for families to enjoy. If this ski area sounds entertaining to you, why not start looking into visiting the Blandford Ski Area for your next winter holiday? It may well prove to be your ultimate holiday destination.
