Increased snowmaking, impeccable grooming, diligent trail maintenance and expanded educational programs are all aspects of improvement that skiers can look forward to enjoying.

Snow skiing enthusiasts generally agree that Whiteface Mountain has the greatest vertical drop (3,430 feet) east of the Rocky Mountains. Add to this the fact that its race courses are fully sanctioned for international competitions, and it is clear to see why Whiteface has been the recipient of a number of awards, including one for excellence in fish and wildlife habitat protection.

The Whiteface Park n Pipe features more than thirty thrilling jumps and rails. The Park n Pipe is split into five areas which are graded by level of difficulty, starting off with the Kid’s Park, which includes bumps, rollers a mini-halfpipe and a couple of rails, working up to Brookside – the beyond-description ultimate park.

Considered by many to be the only genuine double-black diamond ski area in the eastern United States, the Slides at Whiteface offer expert skiers an unforgettable adrenalin rush. Generally open in March and April, depending on snowfall and other operational issues, the Slides are not altered in any way – no grooming, cutting or snowmaking. The nearest chair lift drops adventurers off at Summit Quad, and after a short hike, skiers can look forward to a thrilling journey down, which even includes negotiating deep snow on a frozen waterfall.

In addition to all the snow skiing and snowboarding facilities that Whiteface offers, there are numerous options for accommodation, from luxury lodges to basic no-frills quarters. Whiteface is celebrating 50 years of fun during the 2007/2008 snow skiing season and, in true Whiteface tradition, visitors can expect plenty of excitement throughout the season.
