Thredbo in Australia’s Snowy Mountains is one of Australia’s most popular ski resorts. It is located just a few miles away from Mount Kosciusko, Australia’s highest mountain and offers skiing for all levels. Extensive snow-making guarantees snow cover, so be prepared to ski on exhilarating trails, from the top all the way to the bottom of the numerous runs.

Even if you have never skied before, Thredbo’s purpose built beginner’s area, Friday Flat will help you find your ski legs. A large bowl, it has a good pitch to get you going but is gentle enough to cushion you during the first tumbles. Its large vertical drop and plenty of long trails spread over varied terrain makes it one of the best resorts for skiing in Australia. More experienced skiers will enjoy the Cruiser area where intermediate trails are dominated by wide, tree-lined cruisers, long wide tree-lined trails, and are perfect for cruising. The trails are immaculately maintained and one can access the area with the high-speed Cruiser Chairlift. Some more practice here will prepare you for the long and varied terrain on the Supertrail and High Noon which provide plenty of thrills. The resort is serviced by twelve chairlifts and the trails are spread over nearly 1200 acres. Most of the trails are suitable for intermediates but Thredbo’s off-piste areas are among the best in the southern hemisphere. Thredbo’s super-trails with the greatest vertical drop in Australia are very popular with more experienced skiers, the longest run being nearly twenty thousand feet long. A terrain park offers half pipe and limited cross country opportunities.

Thredbo offers a great choice in accommodation and some of the best après-ski in the Snowy Mountains The mind boggling range of cuisine at the restaurants and the live entertainment at its numerous bars, pubs and nightclubs provides a lot to do off the slopes. Thredbo Leisure Centre has a heated indoor swimming pool and waterslide, fully equipped gym, squash court for non-skiers.
